The history of Delerior and the Delorian spell
A thousand years ago, before Delerior even existed, there was a war.
Empires from all over the world caught wind of a new island that seemed to come out of nowhere, blooming with magical resources that could be used in many different ways. Some sought the island for health and healing, others wanted it for power. When enemy forces finally clashed on the island itself, the world found itself dying trying to keep up with the onslaught. After many years of fighting and many lives lost, a powerful sorcerer finally found a way to stop the plague of war that had spread about the once beautiful world they lived in. He had petitioned the Delorian dragon Rimos, God of friendship and energy. The Sorcerer asked for enough magical power to stop the fighting and remind the people of what they were fighting for. A beautiful land that they did have to own to enjoy. Rimos granted the petition and helped the sorcerer cast the spell. Rimos knew what he was getting into when he granted the petition, and when the spell was cast, the power was so strong it blasted through everything closest to it. Rimos was badly injured, and the sorcerer could not escape the blast. But the spell was successful. The war ended overnight and the world leaders gathered to create a new rule. When the word spread of how the spell was cast, everyone began the search for the origin of the spell. When the place was found, they were shocked to find a massive tree that did not seem to be there before. To heal himself, Rimos had changed his form into one that could not be disturbed for many years to come. The Spirit Tree. In memory of the sorcerer who gave his life to save countless others, the new capital was built around Rimos and the city was named after the Grandmaster Golden Leaf who had saved them all. When the gods were asked what the spell that saved them was called, Estus responded that there was no earthly word for what was given to them, so they could create their own. They named it Delerior, or “The Gift of Hope”, and named their new kingdom after it. When the new kingdom was created, the three remaining gods decided that instead of roaming around like they once were, they should help heal the land from the disaster that had passed. In homage to Rimos, they created their own Spirit trees as a beacon for their power to help heal the land. |
